An error communicating between two CEC enclosure system processor cards was detected.

About this task

There is a communication error between the CEC enclosure system processor cards and the FRUs called out before this procedure. If you were unable to correct the problem by replacing FRUs that were previously specified before coming to this procedure, consider the possibility of failing CEC enclosure I/O backplane assembly.
Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in the serviceable events, select them from there.

Procedure

  1. Use the location codes for the FRUs that were previously specified to determine if the CEC enclosure system processor cards are on the CEC enclosure.

    Are the CEC enclosure system processor cards on separate CEC enclosures?

    • No, continue with step 2.
    • Yes, perform the following steps:
    1. Replace the SMP cables between the two enclosures.
    2. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure
    3. Is the problem resolved?
      • Yes. This ends the procedure.
      • No, continue to the next step.
  2. Replace the CEC enclosure system processor backplane assembly.
  3. Perform a slow boot. MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.

    This ends the procedure.
