MAP2222 DC-UPS communication failure to both RPC cards (Models 961 and 98x)

One or more communications paths to the DC-UPS DSU are failing.

MAP2222 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Inspect the following cables. (Model 96x or 98x three-phase, see Figure 1; Model 98xsingle-phase, see Figure 2.)
    1. If the Ex-J9 (DC-UPS DSU to DSU communication cable) appears damaged or misplugged, go to step 2.
    2. If the Ex-J6 or Ex-J7 (RPC card to DC-UPS cable) appears damaged or misplugged, go to step 3.
    3. For Models 96x, if the Ex-J5 (UEPO switch and cable assembly) appears damaged or misplugged, go to step 4.
    4. For Models 98x, if the Ex-J5 (UEPO connector block) appears damaged or missing, order a new one. To install, you must do a pseudo-repair of the DSU.
    5. If you did not find any damaged or mis-plugged cables, exit this procedure and replace the DC-UPS DSU FRU listed in the serviceable event.

  2. Read the following and then select the appropriate action.
    1. If there is a DSU to DSU communication error, "XA" should be displayed in the DSU status display Callout label 4. See Figure 3 for Models 96x or 98x three-phase; see Figure 4 for Models 98x single-phase.
Note: DSU status codes are defined in MAP2341 Codes on the DC-UPS DSU status display. MAP2341 is not used to begin repairs.
    2. The Ex-J9 (DC-UPS DSU to DSU communication cable) MUST NOT BE HOT-PLUGGED.
The Ex-J9 cable must be replaced or reconnected using a pseudo-repair of the DC-UPS DSU.
That DC-UPS DSU parts exchange procedure protects the DC-UPS staying in customer use.
    3. To install or reconnect the cable, you must do a pseudo-repair of the DSU. A pseudo-repair means you use the management console guided parts exchange procedure. There are two ways to do this:
      1. Exit this procedure and then return to the serviceable event that sent you here and select the DC-UPS DSU from the FRU list.
      2. Refer to MAP1230 Replace a FRU without using a serviceable event and use the DC-UPS DSU location code listed in the serviceable event FRU list that sent you here.

  3. Read the following and then select the appropriate action.
    1. The Ex-J6, Ex-J7 (RPC card to DC-UPS DSU cable) cannot be hot-plugged.
    2. If the cable is damaged, order a new one.
    3. To install or reconnect the cable, you must do a pseudo-repair of the DSU. A pseudo-repair means you use the management console guided parts exchange procedure. There are two ways to do this.
  4. Read the following and then select the appropriate action.
    1. The Ex-J5 (UEPO switch and cable) must not be hot-plugged. The cable cannot be replaced concurrent with customer operation.
    2. If the cable is damaged, order a new one.
    3. To install or reconnect the cable, exit this procedure and go to Exchange the UEPO switch and cable assembly.
