MAP2640 Emergency Power Off Warning (EPOW) error reported to PPS

A rack power system EPOW error can have additional FRUs than are listed in the serviceable event FRU list.

Procedure

  1. An unexpected EPOW signal has been detected by one or more storage enclosure FCIC cards:
    • A valid EPOW signal can only be sent by the PPS or fan sense card to the storage enclosure FCIC cards.
    • An invalid EPOW signal detected by the PPS can be caused by the FRUs in the serviceable event FRU list
    • In some cases, for additional low probability FRUs listed later in this procedure.
  2. Have you replaced all hardware FRUs listed in the serviceable event that sent you here and it still fails?
    • Yes, go to the next step.
    • No, replace the hardware FRUs and return to this step if it is still failing.
  3. Reference the first column in Table 1. Find the row that lists the same FRUs that are listed in the serviceable event that sent you here.
    • For an overview of the problem, read the description in the second column.
    • Perform the action described in the third column.

    • Single path from a fan sense card to a storage enclosure FCIC card, which is a:
      • Cable from the fan sense card to the bulkhead connector
      • Bulkhead (lowest probability FRU)
      • Cable from the bulkhead to the rear of the storage enclosure
      • Storage enclosure backplane

    MAP26401    		 Both FCIC cards in one storage enclosure in the rack Replace one or more of the following FRUs until the problem is fixed.
    • Refer to Figure 1 for the signal path from the fan sense card to the storage enclosure FCIC card, which is a:
      • Cable from the fan sense card to the bulkhead connector
      • Bulkhead (lowest probability FRU)
      • Cable from the bulkhead to the rear of the storage enclosure
      • Storage enclosure backplane
    Note: 1 MAP2640 is not included in the FRU list on LIC bundle VRMF of 64.2.xx.xx or earlier.
