MAP3230 Attempt to IML back to dual cluster operational mode while in DA Takeover
DA takeover is active on this storage facility.
About this task
Normally two I/O enclosure device adapter (DA) cards work together to manage the DDMs on an FC-AL loop. One DA card is managed by the first LPAR in the storage facility image. The partner DA card is managed by the second LPAR in the same storage facility image. The first LPAR is on one CEC enclosure, and the second LPAR is on the other CEC enclosure.
DA Takeover means that a DA card is being controlled by the CEC enclosure that normally controls its partner DA card. In
this case, there was a double failure:
- The CEC enclosure that normally controls the DA card failed and is not available for customer use.
- The partner DA card is not available for customer use. Either it failed or the I/O enclosure that contains it has failed.
IML back to dual cluster operational mode while in DA takeover is not allowed. One LPAR has been fenced and can be resumed back to customer mode only by the next level of support after one or more I/O enclosure FRUs in related open serviceable events have been successfully replaced.
