MAP3270 SRC BE3400B2 FCIC repair needs at least one SES DDM
available
The FRU replacement of the Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) card requires that one of
the SCSI enclosure services (SES) designated DDMs be operational to allow the FCIC firmware level
check to be successful.
MAP3270 Section-1
About this task
The FRU replacement of the FCIC card requires that the firmware level be checked by using the SES
communication of 1 of 2 specific DDMs in the same storage enclosure. See Figure 1.
The P1-C1 (left) FCIC card uses either the P1-D1 or P1-D2 DDM.
The P1-C2 (right) FCIC card uses either the P1-D3 or P1-D4 DDM.

SES communication
If neither DDM is available, the following occurs during the FCIC card repair FRU verification:
A serviceable event with SRC BE3400B2 and the FRU
list containing MAP3270 and the FCIC card is created.
A serviceable event with SRC BE3400B2 for the FRU
list containing MAP3270 and both DDMs is created.
Note: Before you attempt to repair the FCIC card, one or both failing DDMs might already have
open serviceable events with SRCs other than BE3400B2.
If the repair of the P1-C1(left)
FCIC card fails:
Use the BE3400B2 serviceable event with
the FRU list that contains both DDMs (P1-D1 and P1-D2) to repair at
least one of the two DDMs.
Retry the repair of the FCIC card. If it still fails, ensure that
you have repaired both DDMs and retry it one more time.
After the FCIC card repair is successful, ensure that both DDMs have been repaired and all
related open serviceable events are closed.
If the repair of the P1-C2 (right) FCIC card fails:
Use the BE3400B2 serviceable event with
the FRU list that contains both DDMs (P1-D3 and P1-D4) to repair at
least one of the two DDMs.
Retry the repair of the FCIC card. If it still fails, ensure that
you have repaired both DDMs and retry it one more time.
After the FCIC card repair is successful, ensure that both DDMs have been repaired and all
related open serviceable events are closed.
