MAP33D0 SRC BE3400C9 DA repair failed due to unrecoverable IC port
The device adapter card repair detected unrecoverable down or bypassed IC ports. This problem must be fixed first before retrying the device adapter card repair.
MAP33D0 Section-1
Procedure
You were sent here because a repair related to the FC-AL cable interface failed the FRU
verification. Select the FRU that was being replaced before being sent to this MAP:
- I/O enclosure device adapter card, go to MAP33D0 Section-2.
- Storage enclosure Fibre Channel interface card channel interface card (FCIC), storage enclosure midplane, FC-AL cable, go to MAP33D0 Section-3.
MAP33D0 Section-2
Procedure
- Inspect the FC-AL cable listed in the FRU list from end
to end and also ensure it is properly connected.
Did you find a visible problem?
- Yes, go to next step.
- No, go to step 3.
- You will use a pseudo-repair of the I/O enclosure device adapter card in the FRU list to create the proper conditions so you can correctly plug or replace the cable. Instead of replacing the device adapter card, reconnect or replace the FC-AL cable. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and do a pseudo-repair of the device adapter listed in the FRU list.
- You will replace the Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC). Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and exchange the Fibre Channel interface card listed in the FRU list.
- You will now do a pseudo-repair of the I/O enclosure device adapter card to reset the remaining error conditions. When directed to replace the card, do not replace it or remove it, continue the repair. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and do a pseudo-repair of the device adapter listed in the FRU list.
- You will replace the I/O enclosure device adapter card. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and exchange the I/O enclosure device adapter card listed in the FRU list.

- Yes, exit this MAP and call the next level of support.
- No, go to the next step.
- You will replace the FC-AL cable. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and exchange the FC-AL cable listed in the FRU list.
- You will now do a pseudo-repair of the I/O enclosure device adapter card to reset the remaining error conditions. When directed to replace the card, do not replace it or remove it, continue the repair. - Does the FRU list that sent you to this MAP contain an
FC-AL cable?
- Yes, go to the next step.
- No, go to step 4.

Inspect the FC-AL cable that is listed in the FRU list from end to end and also ensure that it
is properly connected.
Did you find a visible problem?
- Yes, go to next step.
- No, go to step 4.
- You will either pseudo-repair the cable if you find any miscabling or you will replace the cable if you find any physical damage. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and perform a replacement or pseudo-repair of the FC-AL cable listed in the FRU list.
- You will replace the Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC). Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and do a replacement of the Fibre Channel interface card listed in the FRU list.

Does the FRU list contain either a device adapter card or another Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC)?
- Yes, you will replace the device adapter card or Fibre Channel interface card, as applicable. After the repair process is complete, you will exit this MAP. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and do a replacement of the device adapter or Fibre Channel interface card listed in the FRU list.
- No, exit this MAP and call the next level of support.
- You will replace the listed FRU. Go to MAP33D0 Section-4 to continue the repair process and do a replacement of the next FRU listed in the FRU list.
- Choose one of the following actions:
- If you were sent to this MAP during a storage enclosure midplane repair, exit this MAP and return to the original serviceable event to resume the repair of the midplane.
- If you were sent to this MAP during a Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) repair, exit this MAP, the original service event is still open, close that serviceable event.
- If you were sent to this MAP during an FC-AL cable repair, exit this MAP and verify that the original serviceable event has been closed.
MAP33D0 Section-4
Exit this map and exchange or pseudo-repair a FRU.
Procedure
- The next step will have you close this window to allow
the parts exchange process to continue normally.
- View this MAP in a separate information center window that will remain open so you can continue to reference this MAP.
- Click Help in the upper right corner of the main HMC GUI screen and navigate to this MAP.
- Return to the original MAP33D0 window (the MAP window launched as part of repair).
- Use the normal FRU exchange process
to replace or pseudo-repair the desired part.
- If you were directed to return to a step in this MAP, you will do so after the exchange process is complete.
- Click Close in the current service information window (that is, this window).
- One or more HMC repair screens will prompt you for the result of using the service procedure in the MAP. Select Problem not fixed.
- Select No when prompted for whether you exchanged any parts.
- Select Yes when prompted for whether you isolated the problem.
- Select the FRU to be repaired from the FRU list. Click Next.
- The HMC begins the FRU exchange process for the selected FRU.
After the FRU exchange process is complete, go to step 4.
