MAP33C0 Low level protocol errors on the Fibre Channel network of a storage enclosure

There may be an FC-AL cabling error or an incorrect device adapter card type.

MAP33C0 Section-1

About this task

This MAP is normally the last FRU in the serviceable event FRU list and is only used if the failure is still present.

Procedure

  1. Observe the FRU list for the serviceable event that sent you here. Notice the location codes of the hardware FRUs.
  2. Display open serviceable events needing repair. Observe their FRU lists. Are any of the serviceable event FRU lists related to the serviceable event FRU list that sent you here?
    • Yes, exit this MAP and go repair those serviceable events. If the failure still occurs, you can return here and continue at the next step.
    • No, continue at the next step.
  3. A pseudo-repair of the Fibre Channel interface card (FCIC) may reset the error condition and complete your repair successfully.
Do a pseudo-repair of the FCIC FRU in the serviceable event FRU list. A pseudo-repair of the FCIC means you will leave the cables connected, and will undock the card without fully removing it and then fully seat it again. This will cause a power-on reset of the card, and the guided repair process will attempt to reset any fences or other leftover error conditions.
  4. This error may be caused by one of the following:
    • Incorrectly connected FC-AL cables.
    • One or both device adapter cards in the DA card pair are incorrect. If that is the case, the FRU CCIN value will be incorrect.
    • Hardware may have been added or removed without using the proper Install/Remove/MES instructions.
  5. Contact your next level of support. If incorrect hardware or FC-AL cabling errors are found, next level will need to provide a special procedure to recover the hardware configuration and code objects.
