MAP6205 Updating the management console LIC bundle

Use this MAP during a management console rebuild, to update the licensed internal code on the management console to match the storage facility.

MAP6205 Section-1

Procedure

  1. Ensure that you were sent here from MAP6200 Reloading the management console LIC bundle.
  2. Log on to the management console.
  3. From the navigation area, click Updates.
  4. From the right work area, select the radio button for the appropriate HMC.
  5. From the bottom Task area, click Acquire Code Images...
  6. Go to MAP6205 Section-2.

About this task

You are here to acquire the LIC bundle from removable media.

Procedure

  1. Under Source of New Code, select Removable Media (CDROM).
  2. Click Go.
  3. Insert the LIC bundle discs as prompted by the screens.
  4. A pop-up message will notify you when the acquisition is complete.
  5. After acquisition is complete, eject the bundle disc.
  6. Go to MAP6205 Section-3.

You are here to activate the LIC bundle.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation area, click Updates.
  2. From the right work area, select the radio button for the appropriate HMC.
  3. From the bottom Task area, click Update HMC Code.
  4. In the action panel, highlight the bundle level and click OK.
  5. You may receive the following message: 
    Could not verify the ICAT code level.  Do you want to continue?
Clicking yes will automatically install the version of code in the selected release.

    Click Yes.

  6. The following message is displayed: 
    Proceeding with the update will take the HMC offline. Do you want to continue?

    Click Yes.

  7. A series of progress windows will be displayed. When the update process is complete, the following message is displayed. 
    Update successful.  Press OK to complete the update and reboot.

    Click OK.

  8. The HMC will reboot. Return to the MAP that sent you here.
