One or both of the SMP cables connecting the system processors on this system are incorrectly plugged, broken, or not the correct type of cable for this system configuration.

Before you begin

Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.

Procedure

  1. Perform the following steps: :
    1. Re-plug the SMP cables (P2-Cx-T1 or P2-Cx-T2) that connect to the CEC enclosure system processor cards.
      Note: The Model 941 does not use SMP cables. The CEC enclosure system processor card might have an internal failure. Before you replace it, you may want to contact your next level of support.
    2. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure."MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure" in the service information center.
    Does the problem persist?
    • Yes, continue to the next step.
    • No. This ends the procedure.
  2. Replace the SMP cables that connect to the CEC enclosure system processor card.
  3. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
  4. Does the problem persist?
    • Yes. Continue to the next step.
    • No. This ends the procedure.
  5. Perform the following for each CEC enclosure system processor card:
    1. Remove one of the CEC enclosure system processor cards using symbolic FRU ANYPROC.
    2. Perform a slow boot. See MAP4820 Performing a slow boot of a CEC enclosure.
    Does the problem persist?
    • Yes, reinstall the CEC enclosure system processor card you removed and then repeat this step, removing the next CEC enclosure system processor card.
    • No, replace the CEC enclosure system processor card you just removed; it is the failing item.

    This ends the procedure.
