General SCSI Configuration Checks

This procedure helps you to isolate failures that are causing problems with the configuration of SCSI devices.

Before you begin

Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.

Important: All DS8000® repair activity must be started from Start here. If you have not started from that procedure, go there now and start from the section Analyze and repair problems. If you did start from that section and the analysis procedures produced an SRN, follow the steps below.

Procedure

The addressing and termination of the SCSI devices is performed by the Disk Drive Enclosure. Replace the Disk Drive Enclosure. See CEC enclosure part numbers, Model 941.
Is the problem resolved?
- Yes, go to MAP1500 Ending a service action.
- No, go to step 2.
Replace the I/O Backplane. See CEC enclosure part numbers, Model 941. Is the problem resolved?
- Yes, go to MAP1500 Ending a service action.
- No, go to step 3.
Replace in turn each of the Disk Drives on the failing SCSI BUS until the problem is resolved. See CEC enclosure part numbers, Model 941.
