Section-2, Overview
- The DS8882F (Model 983) was mechanically and logically configured in manufacturing. All the components were uniquely labeled for field assembly. A hardcopy inventory list was included in the ship group.
- The hardware components must be properly assembled and connected to prevent installation errors.
- The installation uses two documents.
- Assembling a Storage Facility (Model 983) in a Customer Rack. Mechanical assembly only with no power connected.
- Installing a Storage Facility (Model 983). Connecting customer power, powering on, logically installing and configuring.
- This system requires an unused 16U rack space. The placement of the hardware in that space is fixed. See Figure 1 and Table 1.
- If there is not already an available keyboard display to connect to the management consoles, the customer has ordered the optional keyboard/display feature, which is included in the ship group.
