MAP45A0 Pinned data special case

A pinned data condition can occur when handling logical partitions (LPARs).

About this task

A pinned data condition can be detected when the following events occur:
  • The resumption of a CEC enclosure or storage facility image (SFI) LPAR as part of a service action.
  • An LPAR recovery, other LPAR in the storage facility image rebooted this LPAR.
  • A failback to service or a failover to service, specific code actions.

The pinned data may be retryable or non-retryable. The SFI LPARs might not be available for customer use but should be able to do limited service login and PE login actions.

One SFI LPAR was controlling the other LPAR (in the same SFI) that was being rebooted. The controlling LPAR has the pinned data and could not complete the return of the other LPAR. The other LPAR is left fenced, even though it may have no operational problem and no related problems.
