MAP6630 Recovering partition data on a CEC enclosure

This procedure provides guidance on how to recover profile data on a CEC enclosure if the data becomes damaged.

Before you begin

Contact your next level of support if you were sent to this MAP. The HMC options used in this procedure are not enabled for the IBM service representative HMC sign on. Profile data recovery should not be performed without a full understanding of the reason for the problem and the implications of restoring the data.

About this task

The profile data includes information on logical partitions, partition profiles, and system profiles. If the profile data on the CEC enclosure becomes damaged, the CEC enclosure is in Recovery state.
Note: A CEC enclosure refers to one of the two CEC enclosures in a storage facility.

About this task

This procedure recovers the profile data in the service processor by copying it from the HMC.
Note: This is not a concurrent procedure. When the data is restored, the CEC enclosure powers on to Partition Standby.

Restore profile data.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation area, click Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Server View > server.
  2. From the bottom Task area, click Configuration > Manage Partition Data > Restore.
  3. Select the profile information that you want to restore from the list of backup files.
  4. Select the Full restore from the selected backup file restore option.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Wait a maximum of 10 minutes for the CEC enclosure to reach power off state as displayed by the HMC.
  7. Return to MAP6650 Correcting the CEC enclosure operating state and continue.
