SIRSTAT
A status indication for a RIO loop is identified in the reference code.
Before you begin
Note: Storage complex repair actions must always be managed from the
management console. To replace any FRUs identified in this procedure, use Storage Facility Management > storage facility > Exchange Parts. If the FRUs are listed in
this or another Serviceable Event, select them from there.
Procedure
- Record the rightmost four characters of word
4 of the reference code. These characters are the program return code
(PRC), which indicates the RIO status. The leftmost four characters
of word 7 indicate the RIO loop number (in hexadecimal format). See FRPORT for more information about
the RIO loop number. The format of the reference code is shown in Table 1.
Table 1. Reference code format Word number 1 2 3 4 TTTTUUUU xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxPPPP Key:
TTTT = Reference code type
UUUU = Unit reference code
PPPP = Program return code - Use Table 2 to
determine if the status indication requires a service action.
Table 2. Program return codes PRC Indicated status xxxx3205 During IPL, LIC determined that the loop is not complete. - This is expected if there are no I/O units on the loop.
- This error can also occur when an I/O unit, shared I/O unit, or another system on the loop did not complete powering on by the time this system's LIC checked the loop for completeness. As a result, you might see this error in the serviceable event view you are working with.
- When you find the same reference code logged from the same IPL against the same resource with a PRC of 3206 or 3208, the problem no longer exists. This can happen because the error was recovered when RIO/HSL hardware came on line, was properly configured, or the diagnostic code determined that there was not a problem based on the combination of machine types, features, configuration, and topology. In this case, you can close the problem entry.
- This error can also be caused by a problem in a rack, frame, or unit connected to the RIO loop if the problem prevents the unit from powering on or being detected by LIC. Follow the service procedures for this reference code. When necessary, you might be directed to work on other reference codes before returning to this procedure.
xxxx3206 During normal operation a RIO loop recovered its redundant path. The loop is now complete. xxxx3208 During normal operation an RIO I/O bridge recovered a failed link on the loop. xxxx3209 Recoverable CRC (cyclical redundancy check) errors occurred on the loop. This error requires service action. A RIO cable or connection must be exchanged. Exchange only the cable that appears in the FRU list of this reference code in this document. If you are working from the serviceable event view, then only the FRUs required for this error will be displayed. xxxx3210 A RIO link switched to a slower speed. The link is designed to run at a faster speed based on the link's hardware and LIC levels at both ends. If there is a FRU list in the serviceable event view, use it to complete the repair action. If not, call your next level of support for assistance.
